Affordable Housing Strategy and Planning. I help governments and non-profits develop strategies to tackle the affordable housing crisis. Past projects include Harris County, TX’s 10-year housing plan, My Home is Here; Beaufort and Jasper County, SC’s Regional Housing Trust Fund strategy; the Housing For All Action Plan for HousingNOLA; and Austin, TX’s Strategic Housing Blueprint Implementation Plan.

Vacancy and Neighborhood Revitalization. I help develop strategies for reuse of vacant property and revitalization of disinvested neighborhoods. This includes policy, programmatic, and partnership interventions to prevent resident displacement, build on existing assets, and comprehensively improve the social determinants of health. Past work includes the St. Louis Land Bank Assessment in St. Louis, MO; permitting/zoning revisions and community toolkits for Land-Based Projects in Detroit, MI; and the One Rockford plan in Rockford, IL.

Strategic Planning and Funding for Community Development. I help entities in the community development space to communicate their goals, raise funds, and restructure their programs. Past work includes strategic planning for the Buffalo, NY Urban Renewal Authority; the St. Louis Land Reutilization Authority; the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority; Vision Galveston; and the Rockford Housing Development Corporation.

Community Resilience. Affordable homes and a strong community development ecosystem are critical to any community’s resilience. I’ve helped build housing and economic development principles into Resilient Houston, and developed benefit-cost analysis for the winning $141 million National Disaster Resilience Competition application for the City of New Orleans, which has funded implementation of the city’s Gentilly Resilience District.
